Khorium Ore is the highest ore available in the burning crusade expansion. It is a random spawn ore and the place holder is adamantite. Wherever adamantite spawns, especially Rich Adamantite, a Khorium Vein can pop up in it’s place. It requires 375 skill to mine. Fel Iron Ore requires mining skill level of 275 to mine.  It’s the first ore you’ll run across when you journey through The Burning Crusade expansion. If you are looking to make gold with your mining skill take a look at this Gold Guide.

The two zones I choose, which are probably the only two ones you can really get it from efficiently, are: Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh.

Fly the outside mountain ridges on this path and when you get bored either turn around or fly right down the center of the map because there’s ore everywhere.  This zone is loaded with so many Fel Iron Deposits it’s ridiculous. (continue reading…)

Mithril Ore is another ore that you can mine and sell for a lot on the Auction House. I’ve seen it over 20 gold a stack on my server, you must be mining skill level 175 in order to mine this stuff. The three zones I’ve chosen are Felwood, Burning Steppes, and Badlands.

Mithril Ore in Felwood

The route for Felwood is probably the best route to run if you are mining for Mithril Ore. You will run into mobs though, so if you aren’t a very high level character you might want to try one of the other zones instead. (continue reading…)

Iron Ore is a great Ore to mine because you can sell it in the Auction House for a lot of gold.  I’ve seen some people have some pretty good market dominance with Iron Ore on a few of the servers I’ve been on making it sell for as much as 30 gold a stack, more than Saronite typically does. If you are mining for gold you might have surprisingly good success with mining for Iron. If you feel like you need more tips or tricks on how to make more gold take a look at this Gold Guide. Iron Ore requires a mining skill level of 125.

For the Iron Ore routes I’ve chosen three, Feralas, Western Plaguelands, and The Cape of Stranglethorn.

Iron Ore in Feralas

This is likely the best spot for farming Iron Ore since the shattering of Azeroth.

Iron Ore in Western Plaguelands

Western Plaguelands is another good zone to farm for Iron Ore in.  All you need to do here is run a big loop of the zone, avoiding the northern section.

Iron Ore in The Cape of Stranglethorn

The Cape of Stranglethorn will provide you with some good Iron Ore farming. Just follow the route on the map below.

This 1-525 Cataclysm Mining Leveling Guide will tell you how to level Mining in the fastest and most efficient way possible.  Using a mixture of Smelting and Mining we will go from 1-525 in a very, very short amount of time.  This is the fastest way to level mining in World of Warcraft for Cataclysm.

Make sure you have already have a mining pick and that you know where all of your mining trainers are at.  The mining trainers have all the recipes you need to smelt in these steps.  It is also a good idea to have wow mining addons, such as, gatherer in order to track mining nodes in game for the parts you will have to go out and mine in this guide.

Leveling your mining through Smelting is a lot quicker but requires more gold.  If you need help making gold check out this Gold Guide.
