WoW Adamantite Ore – WoW Mining Adamantite

by on Jan.11, 2010, under Adamantite

Updated for patch 4.2.

There are two types of Adamantite Deposits you’ll find, Adamantite Deposit and Rich Adamantite Deposit. You will need to have your mining skill at 325 to mine regular Adamantite Deposit and 350 to mine Rich Adamantite Deposit.

If you are trying to use mining as a way to make gold take a look at this Gold Course which teaches you strategies to maximize the gold you make when you sell things on the Auction House.

The two zones I’ve chosen for Adamantite are Nagrand and Netherstorm.  Both of these are best done with flying mounts.

Adamantite Ore in Nagrand

The main focus of this zone is the caves which I’ve marked with V’s on the map.  I would spend most of my time travelling between them and then taking the north route to start over again.  If you wanted to you could also fly the southern edge of the zone to get back to the start. WoW Thorium Ore – WoW Mining Thorium

by on Jan.11, 2010, under Thorium

Updated for patch 4.2.

There are a few types of Thorium Veins you will encounter on these routes, small and rich. You must be mining skill 230 to mine the Small Thorium veins and mining skill 255 to mine the Rich Thorium Veins. If the reason you are mining is for gold then please take a look at this Gold Course which teaches you how to reach the gold cap.

The two zones I have chosen are Winterspring and Silithus which both have a mix of each of the Thorium veins. (continue reading…)

WoW Mithril Ore – WoW Mining Mithril

by on Jan.11, 2010, under Mithril

Updated for patch 4.2.

Mithril Ore is another ore that you can mine and sell for a lot on the Auction House. I’ve seen it over 20 gold a stack on my server, you must be mining skill level 175 in order to mine this stuff. If you need help figuring out how to best sell your ores and make the highest profits possible on the Auction House take a look at this Gold Guide.

The three zones I’ve chosen are Felwood, Burning Steppes, and Badlands.

Mithril Ore in Felwood

The route for Felwood is probably the best route to run if you are mining for Mithril Ore. You will run into mobs though, so if you aren’t a very high level character you might want to try one of the other zones instead. (continue reading…)

WoW Iron Ore – WoW Mining Iron

by on Jan.11, 2010, under Iron

Updated for patch 4.2.

Iron Ore is a great Ore to mine because you can sell it in the Auction House for a lot of gold.  I’ve seen some people have some pretty good market dominance with Iron Ore on a few of the servers I’ve been on making it sell for as much as 30 gold a stack, more than Saronite typically does. If you are mining for gold you might have surprisingly good success with mining for Iron. If you feel like you need more tips or tricks on how to make more gold take a look at this Gold Guide. Iron Ore requires a mining skill level of 125.

For the Iron Ore routes I’ve chosen three, Feralas, Western Plaguelands, and The Cape of Stranglethorn.

Iron Ore in Feralas

This is likely the best spot for farming Iron Ore since the shattering of Azeroth.

Iron Ore in Western Plaguelands

Western Plaguelands is another good zone to farm for Iron Ore in.  All you need to do here is run a big loop of the zone, avoiding the northern section.

Iron Ore in The Cape of Stranglethorn

The Cape of Stranglethorn will provide you with some good Iron Ore farming. Just follow the route on the map below.

If you’re looking for information on Leveling your Mining see my WoW Mining Guide.

WoW Copper Ore – WoW Mining Copper

by on Jan.10, 2010, under Copper

Updated for patch 4.2.

Copper Ore is the very first ore you will run into while mining.  It comes from Copper Veins and is found in mostly in lower level areas and starting zones.  You can get copper veins in just about any starting area, but the two spots I want to focus on are Durotar and Elwynn Forest.

In my opinion if you are getting Copper Ore to level up your skill you are better off just buying the ore and smelting it for the first levels. If you don’t have the gold to do this take a look at this Gold Course which teaches even the lowest level players how to make a lot of gold.

If you’re a gnome or dwarf you can take the tram from Ironforge to Stormwind to do this route, humans will already be there.  For Durotar Trolls, Orc, Tauren, all will benefit by starting in Durotar.  Blood Elves and Undead can use Eversong Woods, there’s a teleportation crystal near the outside of the city for the Undead to use that brings them to Silvermoon City.  Night Elves and Draenei will use Azuremyst Isle.  If you’re a Night Elf, there’s a boat you can get on from Darnassus that brings you to Darkshore, from there go to the furthest point of the dock and take the boat to Azuremyst Isle.

Feel free to use any of the areas you want (honestly all of the starting areas are pretty easy to collect Copper in), you don’t have to go where it says above, that’s just for ease of use. (continue reading…)
